Job Description

The Senate Sergeant at Arms is seeking a Proctor (Live-In). The complete vacancy announcement and application can be found on the United States Senate Career Page at . Duties Perform administrative duties, create and update program templates and official documents. Answer phone calls (24/7 line) and email inquiries promptly. Oversee the facility during shifts, submit work orders and maintenance requests. Participate in meetings and walkthroughs with AOC. Order facility and office supplies. Attend trainings, staff meetings, and professional development courses. Oversee the office in an EA role during shifts. Support in loco parentis responsibilities for adolescent Senate pages, including tracking pages' whereabouts, providing guidance, emotional support, conflict resolution, and orientation. Provide medical first aid, emergency response, accompany pages to medical appointments, and dispense controlled substances as prescribed. Enforce code of conduct, conduct room inspections, assign demerits/merits, and support disciplinary investigations. Coordinate meal logistics, purchase groceries, manage gift cards for page meals. Plan and supervise field trips and activities for educational and recreational enrichment. Lead activities, deliver information at weekly meetings, and execute event logistics. Qualifications Other Duties/Responsibilities On-call responsibilities. Required Work Experience 1-3 years of experience working with student populations or in-residence halls. Required Special Skills/Knowledge Training in Emergency Response, Mandatory Reporting, CPR Certification. As part of our hiring process, a skills assessment may be conducted to evaluate proficiency in key areas. Desired Qualifications The role requires non-partisanship, effective communication within a team of eight page program staff, and collaboration with Senate pages, the Senate Page School, party cloakrooms, and other Senate offices. Candidates should have residence life experience working with adolescent or college-aged students, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and demonstrate responsibility, initiative, and model appropriate behavior. Working Conditions This position requires onsite presence during Senate sessions, including during government shutdowns, inclement weather, holidays, nights, weekends, and late hours. It supports essential Senate services, requiring availability during shutdowns and emergencies. Work outside regular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
