This contract position will work independently to assist clients with real estate and land use transactional matters, including permitting, siting, and developing residential, public, and commercial projects. The selected attorney will also analyze land use compliance matters to support landowners with litigation and administrative hearings, and manage complex real estate closings.

This part-time contract position offers the flexibility of an anticipated 8-12 hours/week based in our Seattle, WA office. There is a possibility of additional hours of work per week depending on the candidate skill set, ability, and successful integration into the practice group. We are looking for attorneys interested in establishing a flexible, alternative-track working relationship with the Firm.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 4+ years of land development work or transactional real estate work in the land development area at a large or mid-size law firm or in-house.
  • Residency and active bar admission in Washington.
  • Demonstrated experience in real estate and land use transactional matters.
  • Expertise in land use compliance and environmental law.
  • Ability to independently manage complex real estate closings for residential and commercial properties.
  • An understanding of Washington real estate law.
  • Availability to work 8-12 hours per week and adaptability to variability in the volume of work.
  • Flexibility to potentially increase hours as needed.
  • Ability to work from the firm’s Seattle, WA office.
  • High-level of responsiveness and client service abilities.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to produce high quality work product with minimal supervision and direction.

Please note that this is a temporary contract position managed by DWT’s flexible attorney program, DWTSurge. Compensation will be paid on an hourly basis, commensurate with experience and skill level (see below). This role is not benefitted. Due to the structure of the DWTSurge program, DWTSurge employees are not eligible for the firm’s pro bono, DEI, and other activities or opportunities outside of the above stated scope of work.
