Job Description

Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is the backbone of California’s health care safety net. Our success is made possible by the hard work of more than 4,800 DHCS team members and through collaboration with the federal government and other state agencies, counties, and partners for the care of low-income families, children, pregnant women, older adults, and persons with disabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join our diverse team in the following role. If you are interested in joining our team, apply today! About this Role: The California Medicaid Management Information System (CA-MMIS) is a large and complex processing system that relies on a major data center operated by Fiscal Intermediaries (FIs). This system is essential for the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and the State of California. The Fiscal Integrity and Compliance Unit (FICU) is part of the Financial Analysis and Integrity Reporting Section (FAIRS), which falls under the Administrative Management Branch (AMB) in the CA-MMIS Operations Division. FAIRS oversees all financial activities related to the CA-MMIS Division. The FICU Chief is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing payment policies, as well as overseeing key project processes related to the Support and Local Assistance budgets and State of California accounting practices. Under the general supervision of the SSM II, the FICU Chief serves as a financial advisor, providing expertise in accounting principles, budgeting, statistical methods, and data processing as they relate to the FI contracts and the CA-MMIS Operations Division’s Support and Local Assistance budgets. The tasks within FICU consist of the weekly Check write, Budget Change Proposals, Advance Planning Documents, Medi-Cal Assumptions and Estimates, and Budget Expenditure Reports, all of which support the operations of the Division. Given the size, complexity, and cost of the FI contracts, it is essential for DHCS to maintain strong oversight of financial and support activities to effectively track and monitor FI operations. Please refer to the attached duty statement for further details. Working Conditions This work location is very convenient! The CA-MMIS Division is located in West Sacramento near IKEA and Walmart. The incumbent is a Work Week Group E employee and is expected to work an average of 40 hours per week each year and may be required to work specified hours based on the business needs of the office. Minimum Requirements You will find the Minimum Requirements in the Class Specification.
