Job Description

Engineering plays a meaningful role in defining and driving our platform roadmap. We take time to understand the “why” before we start crafting up the “how.” We celebrate engineering successes and promote a blameless and continuous learning and improvement engineering culture. Our engineers are encouraged to contribute ideas and code to our own platform and to other partner teams. Our Opportunity: As a Full-Stack Software Engineer on the Pet Health development team, you will build a robust, resilient, and scalable platform. You will own components of a platform and lead the design and implementation of end-to-end features using both backend and frontend technologies. You will collaborate with product owners to craft architecture based on product requirements, breaking features into small work units and ensuring high-quality production-ready code using modern CI/CD processes. What You'll Do: Design, build, deploy, and scale major platform components, microservices, and front-end features. Implement and maintain adaptable and dynamic user interfaces using React and JavaScript. Implement enterprise design and coding standards. Build a culture of innovation through rapid prototyping and continuous delivery to production. Actively participate in scrum ceremonies, including grooming, planning, demos, and retrospectives. Guide and mentor junior engineers to deliver high-quality code through design and code reviews. What You'll Need: 4+ years of programming experience with Java and backend frameworks like Spring Boot. Proficient in frontend technologies, including JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS. Validated experience working with modern SQL/NoSQL databases. Shown understanding of algorithms and data structures. Confirmed experience supplying to high-performance, scalable systems. Ability to think independently and break down product requirements into well-defined tasks. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or a related field) or equivalent work experience. Bonus Experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS. Familiarity with Kubernetes for container orchestration. Experience with Node.js for server-side development. Experience in developing software for the medical or healthcare industry. Familiarity with working in distributed teams across time zones.
