Job Description

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform all Estimator duties and responsibilities
• Review project plans, specifications, and requirements
• Accurately prepare quantity takeoffs and material cost estimates
• Coordinate subcontractor solicitations and job site walkthroughs
• Assess labor and construction equipment costs
• Develop conceptual cost estimates
• Adhere to bidding and project schedules
• Submit requisitions for material purchases
• Compare and evaluate competitive trade bids
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates
• Collect all necessary bid documents (bid forms, quote letters, etc.)
• Prepare and manage subcontractor bid lists and provide drawings to subcontractors
• Participate in bid compilation on the day of bidding
• Support jobsite teams with estimates post-bid award
• Handle post-bid buyouts (if applicable)
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
• Supervise and mentor junior staff

Minimum Skills and Experience Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least 5+ years of experience in Estimating
• Experience successfully bidding Public Works projects is required
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting specifications and drawings
• Ability to make precise judgments and calculations
• Strong understanding of construction costs and principles
• Proficient in drafting and computer skills
• Experience with Estimating Software is preferred
