Title : Principal - Higher Education

Location : Charleston, SC

Description : We are on the lookout for a skilled professional to join our team as a Principal for the higher education sector. This role involves fostering and expanding client relationships, and providing support during public meetings, and leading interview presentations. As a leader, you will be responsible for motivating, recognizing, and maintaining the morale of the project team. This position offers growth opportunities within the firm and exposure to a dynamic, innovative, and highly collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent the firm and maintain strong client relationships.
• Act as the main point of contact between the team and clients/owners.
• Lead project teams and consultants.
• Ensure project success by overseeing scope, schedule, and budget.
• Develop solutions for project and team challenges.
• Define program requirements and establish project parameters based on client needs.
• Provide long-term planning for clients and their future projects.
• Create and develop overall project/design concepts and presentation strategies.
• Collaborate with all consultants throughout the design phases.
• Maintain project budgets and communicate updates with owners.
• Manage client interactions and decision-making related to projects.
• Mentor, train, and guide project teams.

Requirements:

• Preferred: Licensed Architect in South Carolina.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience.
• Knowledge of local, state, and national building codes, regulations, and approval processes.
• Familiarity with public education in South Carolina.
• Experience in all phases of project management and design, including long-term planning and budget management.
• Understanding of building materials, construction methods, costs, and codes relevant to the design process.
• Awareness of current industry trends and future growth areas.
• Ability to manage client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination effectively.
• Experience in marketing, client interviews, and relationship building.
• Proven ability to create and maintain a client network and leverage it into design opportunities.
• Proficiency in bond program development and cost analysis.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
