Director, Office of Healthcare Analytics and Informatics Full-time Shift: Day Position Type: Exempt Organization Overview The University of Maryland Medical Center, known for its innovative research, education, and advanced healthcare services, treats over 330,000 patients annually. Highlights include the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, the nation’s largest kidney and pancreas transplant programs, and comprehensive cancer and pediatric centers. Position Summary Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a data governance framework across all departments within UMMC’s Office of Health Analytics and Informatics (OHAI). Collaborates with various stakeholders to optimize data collection, analysis, and utilization to improve care quality, operational efficiency, and financial outcomes. Leads data and analytics initiatives across campuses, FPI, and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Key Responsibilities Develop and manage a data governance framework to enhance data quality, compliance, and financial optimization. Oversee data policies related to quality assurance, access, and lifecycle management. Ensure data integrity, usability, analysis, and security in coordination with relevant entities. Maintain an inventory of data sources, including source details, ownership, metrics, and user access. Lead strategic data initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Establish data quality and protection standards. Identify opportunities to leverage data assets for operational and strategic benefits. Engage with users to assess data needs and develop project plans. Collaborate with Data Analysts and IT to ensure data quality and availability. Exceed internal and external customer expectations through proactive data management. Participate in cross-functional teams for BI and analytics projects. Promote data transparency and accessibility within the data ecosystem. Identify and implement best practices for data governance and utilization. Oversee data analysts/scientists and address data collection and integrity issues. Support informatic optimization, including EPIC system enhancements and workflows, working with clinical staff to maximize system benefits. Represent clinical IT needs, advocate for system priorities, and ensure compliance with regulations. Qualifications Master’s Degree in Information Management, Data Science, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data quality, information architecture, or analytics. Experience operationalizing data policies and standards. Knowledge of enterprise transaction systems like Epic, McKesson, Lawson preferred. Skills and Abilities Understanding of data management technologies and design principles. Knowledge of data quality, protection practices, and regulatory requirements. Experience managing enterprise data in healthcare settings. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively within diverse teams.
