Position Summary
The Deputy Medicare Compliance Officer (DMCO) supports the Medicare Compliance Officer in ensuring the success of the Medicare compliance program. The ideal candidate will bring diverse industry experience, contributing to the identification and implementation of best practices. While the DMCO will participate in high-level strategy development, they must also be comfortable performing routine tasks within a small compliance department. The DMCO will supervise the Sr. Medicare Compliance Analyst. This is a full-time hybrid position based in Portland, Oregon .

 

Pay Range

$77,364.14 - $96,705.18 annually.
Actual pay is based on qualifications. Applicants who do not exceed the minimum qualifications will only be eligible for the low end of the pay range.

Required Skills, Experience & Education:

  1. Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and related business experience.

  2. Five (5) or more years of experience in a direct Medicare compliance role.

  3. In-depth knowledge of Medicare compliance and regulations.

  4. Experience with auditing, risk management, and regulatory reporting.

  5. Keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities with shifting timelines.

  6. Strong skills in problem identification, analysis, resolution, and prioritization.

  7. Strong interpersonal skills.

  8. Leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate, collaborate, and coordinate in a cross‐functional organization.

  9. Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  10. Proficiency with PC software, including development and maintenance of tracking/database tools.

  11. Ability to maintain confidentiality and project a professional business image.

 

Primary Functions :

  1. Support the Medicare Compliance Officer in maintaining the effectiveness of the compliance plan and overall program.
  2. Assist with risk assessments, internal audit plans, committee reporting, and compliance program updates.
  3. Contribute to managing the plan's relationship with CMS.
  4. Assist the Compliance Officer with delegate oversight activities.
  5. Provide support during regulatory audits.
  6. Oversee the investigation and documentation of internal and external notices of noncompliance, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  7. Supervise and review reports from the Sr. Compliance Analyst.
  8. Act as a hands-on member of the compliance team by conducting regulatory research, assisting business areas with maintaining compliance, reviewing Medicare materials, responding to departmental inquiries, submitting reports to CMS, and representing Medicare Compliance on internal projects, including product implementations and Employer Group Waiver Plan (EGWP) client meetings.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Working Conditions & Contact with Others

  • Office environment with extensive close PC and keyboard use, constant sitting, and frequent phone communication. Must be able to navigate multiple computer screens. A reliable, high-speed, hard-wired internet connection required to support remote or hybrid work. Must be comfortable being on camera for virtual training and meetings. Work in excess of standard workweek, including evenings and occasional weekends, to meet business need.
  • Internally with multiple departments. Externally with government regulatory agencies, business partners and customers as needed.
